Born in Bridgewater, New Jersey (U.S.A.) in 2000, I, Adrian Florez, am the founder of SAHARA STUDIOS.
It was at Parsons School of Design where I was introduced to Richard Hamilton’s Interior (1964), a photomontage portraying the interior of a contemporary living room made from images cut out of various magazines. Hamilton believed that any interior is a set of anachronisms — a kind of personal museum made up of the random objects we choose to surround ourselves with. Banal or beautiful, exquisite or sordid, each item reflects not only something about who we are, but also offers a fragmented portrait of humanity as a whole.
It is within this narrative that SAHARA builds its foundation. Influenced by a wide range of factors such as social, cultural, and historical contexts, creativity is not a solitary pursuit. Art and fashion are a conversation; new ideas are built upon existing ideas and each piece of dialogue exists to expand upon the collective understanding of human identity, expression, and society.
